Danny Mc Menamin is the Founder of Seneca Systems Limited, a consulting company
specializing in the development and manufacture of synthetic fibers and recycling of waste
plastics and has launched several “State of the Art” plants, since it’s founding in 1994.
This experience has provided Mr. Mc Menamin a unique knowledge with broad and specific
“hands-on” experience of all important fiber making equipment and waste plastic processes.
Mr. Menamin has built a solid reputation based on word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied clients on
a global basis from the United States to Europe, Middle East and China. His communication skills,
accessibility, positive down-to-earth attitude and ability to complete objectives without wasted
time make him a natural choice with clients.
Danny has an entrepreneur’s eye for synergy in businesses and business opportunities which
provides extensive experience in defining new fiber product ideas, running developments at
pilot plants and scaling up new products at commercial facilities for production. Mr. Mc Menamin
has now completed numerous successful R&D development projects, involving all commodity
polymers and many specialty polymers, fiber configurations and endless number of fiber processes.
His wide experience along with a natural ability to work with concept design and machines is one
of his greatest assets.
Mc Menamin’s intimate knowledge of all fiber-manufacturing processes including spunbond and
melt blown has been instrumental in the development and commercialization of several major
product launches. This includes successfully completing assignments worldwide including the
specification and start up of a Euro 50,000,000 SSMMS facility in the Middle East. Other varied
projects include the launch of sheet and bottle blowing lines the development of a revolutionary
dental floss based on bi-component technology for a major oral care company, and the
development of the PLA fiber processes. Additional successes include his ihands on leadership
with NatureWorks™ since 1998 and he is one of the first to spin Ingeo™ fiber from NatureWorks™
PLA polymer into filament, textured yarn and staple fiber. His experience and knowledge extends
to all aspects of PET processing from fiber to nonwoven fabrics, film, bottles and the recycling of
post consumer PET bottle waste by chemical’ or ‘physical’ process.
Prior to starting his own firm, Mc Menamin was employed by Wellman International Limited where
he held a number of senior level supervisory and technical positions. Wellman is a leading producer
of staple polyester fiber from post consumer PET bottles. His specific responsibilities included
research and development work leading to product and process innovation, the identification of
new technologies and business opportunities, the resolution of technical process issues through
engineering principles, analysis and experiments. Earlier he was employed as a Quality Manager
in a company manufacturing custom designed glass fiber reinforced equipment for the chemical
and pharmaceutical industries.
Mr. Mc Menamin has an in-depth knowledge of Environmental Management Systems Standards
such as ISO 14000 and EMAS - ISO 9000 Quality Systems – Health and Safety Systems such as
OHSAS 1800. He has implemented these standards at several major companies. Mr. Mc Menamin
is a founder partner of Retech Processing Limited a recycling company based in Kingscourt County
Cavan Ireland and is External Examiner for Polymer Courses at Athlone Institute of Technology.
Mr. Mc Menamin is a graduate of Athlone institute of Technology in Polymer Engineering and of
Letterkenny institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
